'Double Helix' by Nancy Werlin

Reviewed by Mrs Hollingsworth

Eli Samuels applies for and accepts a job with Wyatt Transgenics, working for the famous molecular biologist Dr Quincy Wyatt. Eli’s father is opposed to this job and seems particularly angry that Eli will be working closely with Dr Wyatt.
Graduation from high school is imminent and Eli is taking a year off to work instead of heading straight to College, providing greater angst and tension between Eli and his father. As the rift between father and son grows and communication becomes more strained, Eli becomes more engrossed in his work and seeks out Dr Wyatt.
Read the novel to find out the real reason Eli’s father has great dislike for Dr Wyatt. Could Eli have mistaken assumptions regarding the past relationship of his mother (who is now severely ill with Huntington’s disease), and Dr Wyatt? What is really being developed and studied at Wyatt Transgenics?
Will Eli walk away from his relationship with Viv to pursue the beautiful Kayla and what complications will that bring?
Fantastic read
